Wherever there are crises in the world, there are women’s organizations ready to help. Despite these organizations readiness and competency women are systematically left out of the decision-making to crises response processes that affect their communities.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its rapid spread across the world in early 2020 has highlighted the impact that health and humanitarian emergencies can have on women’s human rights, and peace and security. The pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on women and girls, aggravating domestic violence, increasing unpaid domestic labor and in turn the risk of exposure to the virus. GNWP works to ensure that women leaders get a seat at that table and have the resources, knowledge and skills to lead response in their communities.

Our advocacy and work are informed by the latest data and best practices on the topics of gender, conflict prevention, and humanitarian response. Through our COVID-19 and Women, Peace and Security Database, we track the impacts of crises and the women-led responses across the world.
