Peacebuilding Communications Associate
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Shawna is a recent graduate of Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she studied international politics–with a focus on international law and institutions–as well as justice and peace. Shawna’s professional and academic interests include the role of women and youth in peacebuilding and human rights movements, gender in law and policy, and the use of technology and digital media for social justice. While at Georgetown, Shawna helped manage communications for the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs and was the Director of Marketing and Advocacy for the university’s UNICEF chapter.
In addition to gender, peace, and security, Shawna has a passion for disability rights, sexual and reproductive rights, mental health, and the study of languages. Besides English, she has working proficiency in French, intermediate skills in Spanish, and intends to continue improving and learning additional languages in the future.
