Women-led responses: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
Monitoring ceasefires and the security and political situation in conflict-affected communities
Women around the world have reiterated the UN Secretary-General’s call for a global ceasefire. They have also used their networks to monitor the implementation of the ceasefires in their communities.
For example, in March 2020, women’s organizations in Armenia have been monitoring the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, maintaining contact with young women in border communities to ensure that the peacebuilding activities do not stop despite the state of emergency. GNWP’s partner, Democracy Today, has circulated an open letter from young women, in support of the UN Secretary-General’s call for ceasefire.
