Policy Briefing on the Nexus of Economic Empowerment and Women, Peace and Security in Afghanistan

On March 15th 2017, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) in partnership with the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN), Cordaid and the Permanent Missions of Finland and Australia to the UN organized the policy briefing on the Nexus of Economic Empowerment and Women, Peace and Security in Afghanistan at the One UN Hotel in New York in conjunction with the 61st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Afghan civil society leaders examined the lack of economic opportunities for women and how that impacts on their security situation. They also spoke about the the implementation of the Afghan National Action Plan (NAP) on UNSCR 1325 and what could be done to improve implementation.
