Femlinkpacific is a Fiji Island based feminist based women’s NGO which uses a community media platform, including a mobile radio station and a rural women’s media network to advocate for the full implementation of UNSCR 1325 and other commitments to women, peace and human security. femLINKpacific was established in September 2000 and is registered under the Charitable Trust Act in Fiji.
The overarching development objective of our work is to address the imbalances caused by the traditional decision-making structures which impede women and young women’s effective participation, especially from the rural population and the poor, to communicate openly on common matters
Through the production of regular media and policy initiatives femlinkpacific communicates the experiences of rural women to local and national policy makers. Since 2006 femlinkpacific has actively engaged with the Regional Security Committee of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and has worked with members of a regional women’s media network on UNSCR1325 to bring the experiences of women in Bougainville (PNG), Solomon Islands and Tonga, as well as Fiji to this annual meeting.
