Peacebuilding Communications Intern
Mehjabeen Elahi, is a young communications and government relations professional with a demonstrated history of working in Canadian politics/government and the NGO sector. She currently works for the Ontario Public Sector. Prior to this role, she interned as a Legislative Assistant at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and has recently interned at the United Nations Foundation. After graduating from McMaster University with a Combined Honours in Communication Studies and Cognitive Science of Linguistics, she pursued a Post-Graduate Certificate in Government Relations. She is now a candidate at the Graduating School of Political Management for a Masters in Strategic Public Relations at George Washington University for Fall 2021.
Her passion for women and youth issues has also encouraged her to sit as a member of the Ontario Provincial Youth Cabinet, Canadian Council of Young Feminists, and the Canadian Council of Muslim Women. She also volunteers as the Vice-President of External Affairs at The Canadian Advisory of Women Immigrants (CAWI), a Communications Officer and Mentor at SheConnects, and as a Communications and Government Relations Advisor at Nisa Homes, the first group of transitional homes for Immigrant, Refugee and Muslim women and youth fleeing domestic violence, poverty, homelessness or seeking asylum.
