Associate for Africa Peacebuilding Programs 

Emem Bassey is an Associate for Africa Peacebuilding Programs. Emem is a Nigerian peacebuilder, peace educator and an independent translator. She is passionate about helping the most vulnerable such as women and children. She has rehabilitated and reoriented refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, vulnerable women and children all from various cultural backgrounds to reconcile with their different communities. She has also empowered these ones by giving them trauma healing, means of livelihood and skills acquisition.

Emem holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Benue State University Makurdi, Benue – Nigeria, and a Master’s Degree in Peacebuilding and Development from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan – Nigeria. She is trained in Mediation by FemWise-Africa and also acts as a focal person both at the national and regional level to FemWise. She has also participated in different Conflict Prevention exercises and Peace Mediation such as Agila Chieftaincy Crisis in Benue State – Nigeria.
