#BehindTheAdvocacy: Shivi Thakur

#BehindTheAdvocacy: Meet Shivi Thakur, a GNWP Research and Advocacy Intern from Kathmandu, Nepal. Shivi is a rising senior at Soka University of America and is pursuing a bachelor’s in Liberal Arts with a concentration in International Studies

“At GNWP, I love how my work, interests, and knowledge are always valued. I feel that I am included in all decisions that GNWP makes as a team and that my opinions are respected. Sometimes my supervisors assign tasks I have never attempted before, but the fact that they trust me and believe that I am capable motivates me to give my 100%! I have done several internships in the past and felt that my experiences and interests were not valued. Usually, I’d end up doing time-consuming tasks such as entering data and contacts, summarizing reports, or just waiting for my supervisors to assign me something exciting to do.

I feel very lucky that every single person in our GNWP team is from a different country – my best memories at the office will be working with an incredible team of interns from all over the world! I will forever cherish our $2 coffee runs, attending the High-Level Political Forum, and having constant access to the United Nations!”
