Alonna Despain is a second-year student master’s student at NYU’s Center for Global Affairs pursuing a degree in Global Affairs with a concentration in Human Rights and International Law an emphasis on women and gender. Alonna’s experience has included internships with the National Council on U.S. Arab Relations, the U.S. Department of State, the International Center for Transitional Justice, and Parliamentarians for Global Action. Presently, she is interning with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, serving as graduate research and teaching assistant for Dr. Sylvia Maier, and is the Managing Editor for the NYU Global Affairs Review. Alonna holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Oklahoma.
